Mercy Housing and Shelter in Hartford, Connecticut plays a vital role in helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives with dignity. Through their Diversion and Outreach Program, Mercy works to connect people with safe shelter, supportive services, and the resources they need to regain stability.
This week, Mercy Housing and Shelter received a generous donation of over 120 CareKits from Larissa Regan and Brooke Lewis, two passionate students from the University of Connecticut's School of Social Work. These hygiene kits include essential items like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant — small things that have a big impact on health, self-worth, and hope.
Larissa and Brooke rallied their community to collect hundreds of hygiene products in just a few days. With the help of family and friends, they thoughtfully assembled each kit, keeping in mind the very real challenges faced by those living without stable housing. Their contribution supports Mercy’s mission and ensures that individuals in the Diversion and Outreach Program receive not just supplies, but the message that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
We are deeply grateful to Mercy Housing and Shelter for their ongoing commitment to compassion and healing, and to Larissa and Brooke for being shining examples of leadership and empathy in action.
